Irregulars Guild Charter, Updated Jun-24-2014

The conversational nature of this document, as opposed to a formal/rigid "charter", is one example of the atmosphere I'm hoping to foster here.  And with that -

Who we Are

The guild is comprised of a mature segment of the gaming community who are active in-game during the late night west-coast US time frame. Mature does not necessarily imply older, but does imply an intent to come together as a group, enjoy one another's company, and keep tension/drama to a minimum while pursuing a common goal with a certain degree of focus and aptitude. WildStar players who are active during these late US hours appear to be a minority thus far (PvE server even moreso), so we're doing what we can to spread the word about this venture and gather other like-minded individuals.

What we're About

The guild's primary goal is to become a healthy and active late night community for taking in and enjoying everything the game's developers have created - both on the journey to 50 and into the Elder game beyond. This especially includes veteran dungeons and adventures, as well as lore, crafting, and perhaps a bit of pvp (both combat and economic, if inclined). We're charting a course toward raid content as well, with most of the current membership working through the dungeon step of the process currently. The important consideration with raiding, in the context of who we are, is the pace. We fully intend to get there and push that content, but view the journey with just as high regard as the end goal itself. The intent is to build that raiding force atop a strong community foundation while honoring the limited amount of time that members have to spend in-game.

How we'll Accomplish It

As per the "Who we Are", the intent is to become a go-to hub of activity for the late night US western PvE crowd. To accomplish this, members are encouraged to be active and personable within the community-at-large, whether on forums, personal blog sites, or in-game. Maintaining maturity and respect are key cornerstones of the guild philosophy, and members (both social and raid-roster) are expected to uphold this philosophy.

We intend to keep a small officer core which will consist of one or two raid-related officers (including the raid leader) as well as a social officer. These will be assisted by a handful of advisory positions, relating to class roles in raids (most likely: tank, heal, melee, ranged), and a social-related adviser as needed.

Regarding raid-roster - it's the guild's belief that recognition and progression are important, though they should be tempered with one of the core values of gaming, which is to simply "have fun" while attaining that recognition. The goal is to experience and conquer the raid content at a comfortable pace - we're not aiming for server firsts. The raid schedule, at the time of this writing, is intended to be roughly 9-10 hours per week, starting around 9pm PST. (see more below, under expectations)

Regarding applications - the intent of the recruiting process is, in all cases, to apply a consistent approach in evaluating whether the guild will be a good fit from both perspectives. Upon joining, a 2-week "recruit" period will assist both parties in deciding if the guild is a good fit. Interest in joining the raid team can be expressed when approaching and working through the attunement process.

As for conflicts that may arise over time, or simply for questions that need answers - the guild master, officers, and advisers will make themselves available as needed for these direct conversations, while respecting current group engagements as appropriate (raid combat, vet dungeon combat, etc.)

What we Expect from You

For all members, there is the continued expecation of maintaining maturity and respect - and simply enjoying what you do. Positive attitude is contagious, and this will go a long way toward supporting everyone's in-guild experience, as well as making a name for the guild on a personable level above and beyond our pve-progression accomplishments.

Maturity and respect are the cornerstones of who we are as a guild. When you wear the tag, you are a representative of our guild. Whether it’s in-game or participating in an external community, we expect our members to uphold these cornerstones with pride. These expectations include:

  • Equality - Acknowledge that we are all a diverse bunch and remain respectful of others, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, nationality and the like.
  • Good Sportsmanship - We do not tolerate overtly hostile trash talking of any kind to anyone.
  • Humility - We’re all passionate about gaming, but should not be afraid to admit when we’re wrong and value diverse perspectives.
  • Honorable - We keep our word when we give it. We also don’t participate in questionable activities such as gold buying, botting and the like.

We are a guild aimed at gamers with limited online schedules. Some may have more in-game availability than others, but the pace and focus of the guild is aimed toward that limited-time approach.

And hence, on the raiding side, the limited schedule will put a great deal of importance on the focus and aptitude of the individual raid-roster members as well as their ability to congregate on the forums and through other avenues to prepare strategies and theorycrafting. Raiders will be expected to be active on the forums, to invest time researching out-of-game, and to be well prepared in-game. It comes down, again, to those two qualities that bear repeating - focus and aptitude. Raid windows will be on a tight schedule - make them count.
